101 Collins Street
A 57 storey office building situated in the centre of Melbourne’s CBD, providing 82,000 sq m of net rentable space plus car-parking for 1325 cars. With its stepped massing and spire, 101 Collins Street matches the popular image of what a skyscraper looks like. It is set back from the Collins Street frontage with a podium level that defines the footpath edge and relates to the existing street-scale development. The tower is a polished grey granite stick with glazed buttresses. The reflective silver stepped glass buttresses progressively diminish and disappear in the body of the granite tower, re-emerging above it as the square spire. Simultaneously, the masonry core reads as four legs, with the glass frame popping out through slots.
